Found a great image from the guys at unbounce.com that summarises and simplyfies a Marketing Funnel and the steps you should look at to increase conversion on the page.
Previously the most important measurable of website deliverables was number of hits. We now have a more accurate representation by looking at Unique users and number of pages viewed using websites such as Google Analytics. In my Opinion the next key measurable should be the conversion rate, in other words the engagement user have with your website.
Some people think of conversion only as a product sale, but as can be seen below lead generation and registration forms also count as a conversion.
